Fleet 29 At the North American Nationals

Three fleet 29 members attended the 2011 North American Nationals on June 23, 24 & 25 in New Bern, NC.
Fisk Hayden, with his son and grandson as crew, sailed "Ole Yeller" to a first place tie on the first day of racing in the "All Sails" division.
Kyle Everly and crew Jeremy Summers in "Dat Dang Boat" took 3 firsts and a DNF after equipment failure in the "Woking Sails" division.
Carlton and I Managed a 3rd in one of the 4 races in the woking sails division.
The wind and compitition was great on Fri. for our 4 races.
Unfortunately no wind cancelled racing on Saturday leaving team Hayden finishing 2nd overall in "All sails" and Kyle 3rd in "Working sails".
We all had a great time and encourage all of you to join in the class association sanctioned races.
It's a good opportunity to get to know the other San Juaners and learn so much!

St. Pete NOOD Sailors

Bill McClure 'Thistledowne", Scott & Robyn Lindars "Survivor", and Randy Pawloski & Casey "Pivot"

Kyle Everly & Carlton Brown "Just Us" and Jeremy Summers "OL YELLER"

Five San Juan 21 sailors went to the NOOD Regatta in St. Pete, Fl and were the first in the history of the St. Pete NOODs to do so.  We got in 5 races over 3 days of light air racing. The whole experience was great!  The racing was well managed, the yacht club outstanding, launching, retrieving, docking easy. The Mount Gay rum stands on its own merit. As always, when San Juaners get together, the camaraderie was a true highlight of the event.

The final results are as follows:

Boat, Skipper, Race 1 2 3 4 5, Total Pts,  Position
  • Thistledown, Bill McClure, 1 1 2 3 1, 8, 1
  • OL YELLER, Kyle Everly, 2 2 1 4 3, 12, 2
  • Just Us, Carlton Brown, 3 4 5 1 2 15, 3
  • Pivot, Randy Pawlowski, 4 3 4 2 4, 17, 4
  • Survivor, Scott Lindars, 5 5 3 5 5, 23, 5
We hope to see a bigger class next year.
